Ken Rickard (aka agentrickard) talks about some of the improvements to the node access system in Drupal 7. He mentions that all six of the action items that came out of a brainstorming session from at Node Access Birds of a Feather session from DrupalCon Szeged. Rickard talks about two new alter hooks in Drupal 7 related to node access including hook_node_access_records_alter() and hook_node_grants_alter().

Aegir's new home, release updates, and DrupalCon The Aegir Project has just launched its new home - aegirproject.org. Right now this site is just a placeholder, but we'd like to turn this space into a resource for documentation, release announcements, and community discussion.

Konstantin Käfer (aka kkafer) talks about the Form API States System for Drupal 7. The states system allows you to create dependencies between form elements so that you can for example make a textbox disappear when a checkbox is checked. The Examples for Developers module has some more examples of the #states syntax on api.drupal.org. Announcing Lullabot's short URL site: lb.cm URL shorteners are the bane of the internet. However, for those of us who use Twitter on a regular basis, you know that 140 characters can be limiting. URLs can theoretically be 2,000 characters or more, but most are in the 40 to 80 character range. That's almost half your tweet!

Katherine Bailey (aka katbailey) gives a brief overview of the new Ajax framework in Drupal 7. As maintainer of the Quick Tabs module, she got interested in all of the various JavaScript-related functionality in Drupal. It's hard to believe, but it's already the last week in August and of the last in the summer.
