OpenGovDC, free PBR, and movie night this week in Washington, DC

Week in DC Tech

It’s a busy week for technologists in Washington, DC. Kicking off the week is the OpenGovDC conference, followed by an open government happy hour that’s open to the public. That’s in addition to a BBQ, a movie viewing, and other meetups happening this week. Below is a roundup of the events we’re hoping to catch, and you can find a full listing at DC Tech Events. Have a great week!

Tuesday, June 14th
8:00 am – 5:30 pm

OpenGovDC Conference: This one day intensive conference will look at how open source technology can be implemented to improve efficiency and openness in the government. All sessions will include case studies from successful open source implementations in government, followed by honest discussions on how it worked strategically and practically. We’ll be there talking about open data and mapping, and to give a session on creating custom maps with government data in TileMill. A few tickets are still available, register here.

5:30 – 7:30(ish) pm

OpenGovDC Happy Hour: This happy hour is open to everyone interested in open government. Join us for drinks (the first 500 PBRs are on us!) and to talk about how sharing resources, opening data, and better utilizing technology can improve our government.
