Using Ubercart - How do you set up the catalog page to display categories along with category image?

I downloaded the Drupal 6.x version of Ubercart from the Drupal.org modules list.When I open Administration -> Content Management there is NO entry for Categories. In addition, when I create a new product the only entry in the Catalog pull-down is “None“. Consequently the newly created product is an orphan and nothing displays in the Catalog block.The taxonomy for catalog is all set up.
I am using Drupal 6.x with PHP5.
